Parent Responsibilities

As a cooperative (co-op) school, HCNS relies on the active participation of all enrolled families.  One of the main benefits of a co-op is parents get to be a part of their child’s early education.  Parents really enjoy seeing their children interact with other children and with the teachers on a regular basis.

All parents serve on a Committee or on the Board of Directors to assist in the administration of the school. A list of committee and board opportunities for the upcoming school year will be available at the Open Registration

Much of the feedback received indicates that many parents would love to send their child to HCNS, but the short classes and additional parental responsibilities that go with a cooperative preschool program are not feasible for some busy parents. HCNS is and will remain a cooperative school, but only if you want it to be. HCNS will hand tailor each students individual program with the needs of their family. If work or personal demands make it difficult for you to participate in the co-op aspect of our school, you can now opt out of co-op responsibilities by paying an additional fee. We have also eliminated the periodic requirement to serve as Parent-of-the-Day (POD) during class and the daily cleaning duties that go along with that responsibility. However, you are always welcome to join along as the parent volunteer as your schedule allows (no cleaning required!)

Participation in the cooperative program is a condition of your child’s enrollment in the school, (unless you opt out by paying an additional fee) as well as a fun way to get involved in your child’s education.
